Olympic Ministry

Debbie Wohler has done ministry at 10 Olympic Games. She’s been to Lake Placid, Los Angeles, Calagary, Atlanta, Nagano, Sydney, Salt Lake City, Athens, Torino, and Beijing.

In Sydney, Debbie dressed up as a kangaroo to tell people about Jesus. In Salt Lake City, she dressed up as Frosty the snowman. Sometimes the ministry teams do balloon animals and face painting to tell people about Jesus. Many of them do pin trading to start a converstation about Jesus. They talk with people from all over the world. They distribute pins that have the colors of the salvation bracelet on them and use the pins to tell people that a relationship with Jesus Christ is worth “More than Gold.”

A few of our former Big A Club children have competed at the Olympics. Shannon Barhke won a silver medal in Salt Lake City and came in 10th in the women’s moguls in Torino. She wrote on Debbie’s ticket, “Dreams Do Come True!” Julia Mancuso, sister of another former Big A Club child, won the gold medal in Giant Slalom in Torino.
